Feast of the Presentation (Candlemas)

7:30 PM | Concert in Church (doors open at 7:10 PM)

Our special guest, Seattle Pacific University Rope Drum Ensemble, will be performing on historical 17th and 18th century field drums and bass drums!

Join us as we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, which occurs forty days after the birth of Jesus and is also known as Candlemas, because the blessing and procession of candles is included in the liturgy.   

Begin your evening with Choral Mass at 5:30 PM, featuring sacred compositions by Victoria, Byrd, Eccard, and Lassus.  After Mass there will be a short pre-ception in the Parish Hall (with Southern Comfort and pancakes!), followed by the concert, which will feature compositions by Telemann, Vivaldi, Gabrieli. Music will be performed by the Blessed Sacrament Schola Cantorum, Sackbut Ensemble, and Baroque Orchestra, with special guest, the Seattle Pacific University Rope Drum Ensemble, performing on historical 17th and 18th Century field drums and bass drums! Tickets are required for the concert only.

Blessed Sacrament's Choral Masses, listed below, feature special selections of sacred music performed by our Blessed Sacrament soloists, Schola Cantorum, Sackbut Ensemble, and/or Baroque Orchestra.  Choral Masses are frequently celebrated on the first Sunday of the month at the 5:45 PM Mass, and on solemnities and feast days.
