Sunday School Volunteer Role Descriptions

Help In the Classroom

Teacher or Co-Teacher
What: You get to have the joy of sharing our Faith with our children! Use the provided curriculum to prepare a weekly lesson for your class and then lead and teach the class on Sundays. If you prefer, you can work with a co-teacher so that the two of you can share the responsibility. All the materials you need for your class will be provided.
Time Commitment: 90 minutes on Sundays, plus additional time during the week as needed to prepare for class.
When: Sunday mornings from 10:15–11:45 AM.

Classroom Assistant
What: Work alongside one of our teachers and help with the week's lesson and classroom activities. No advance planning is required. You get to work with our wonderful children and help share the Faith without having to prepare or teach the lesson yourself :).
Time Commitment: 90 minutes, 2–4 times per month.
When: Sunday mornings from 10:15–11:45 AM.

Emergency Substitute
What: Even our amazing teachers occasionally get sick, travel, or otherwise need to miss a Sunday! Step in when needed to help keep a class running. Lesson materials and guidance will be provided—you just provide the willingness to jump in when called upon.
Time Commitment: 90 minutes when needed.
When: Sunday mornings from 10:15–11:45 AM.

Help Us Welcome Families

Sunday School Welcome Team
What: Help families get their Sunday morning off to a welcoming start! Our Welcome Team greets families as they arrive at the school, answers questions and gives directions, and helps children and families safely cross the street on their way from Mass to Sunday school and coffee & donuts. Whether you're stationed at the school gate or sporting one of our fashionable crossing-guard vests, you'll help make Sunday mornings welcoming and easy to navigate.
Time Commitment: Approximately 30–45 minutes, 2–4 times per month.
When: Immediately following the 9:00 AM Mass.

Help Behind The Scenes

Sunday School & Sunday Forum Setup/Takedown
What: There are lots of behind-the-scenes details that make our Sunday morning programs possible! Help prepare Sunday School classrooms and gathering spaces, set up our Assembly area, make copies and put out materials for teachers, prepare the nursery area, set up chairs and hospitality for Sunday Forum, put out signs, and help with all the other nooks and crannies of need that arise each Sunday. Afterward, help us put everything away and reset our spaces for the week ahead. You can help with setup, takedown, or both—whatever works with your schedule.
Time Commitment: Approximately 1–2 hours, 2–4 times per month. Even if you can only help with part of setup or takedown, we'd be grateful for the extra hands!
When: Setup begins around 8:45 AM and needs to be completed before our Sunday morning programs begin. Takedown begins around 11:45 AM.

Tech Team
What: Help keep the technological side of our Sunday morning programs running smoothly! Assist with setting up and operating the audio/visual equipment used for Sunday School assemblies, presentations, Sunday Forum, and other formation programs. You don't need to arrive knowing our equipment—training will be provided. To help with the Tech Team, check the “Setup/Takedown” volunteer option and put Tech Team in the notes
Time Commitment: Varies depending upon the program and Sunday.
When: Sunday mornings as scheduled.

Help With Our Littlest Parishioners

Nursery Help
What:  Help watch over the youngest members of our parish in the Interconnections Room nursery area. This allows the children’s parents to share fellowship with other parishioners. This is not a ‘drop off and leave’ nursery; the parents will still be nearby.
Time Commitment:  1 hour,   2-4 times per month.
When:  Sunday after the 9:00AM Mass (Approx. 10:10).
