Legion of Mary

Due to the season of Lent and the Friday Soup Suppers, Legion of Mary will be changing our movie night to Tuesday, February 17th at 6:30pm in the parish hall.  We will be offering an award-winning family animated classic, The Prince of Egypt.   It is based on the Book of Exodus and follows the life of Moses, from being a prince of Egypt to becoming the prophet chosen by God to lead the Hebrews out of slavery.  Light refreshments will be offered.

Have you ever felt called to consecrate yourself to our Mother Mary?  If to consecrate means “to set aside for a particular purpose,” what does it mean, exactly, when the term is applied to our relationship with Mary? Put simply, Marian consecration is an entrustment of oneself to Our Lady. But if that “simple” idea still sounds vague and mystical, know that consecration involves the following concrete steps:

  1. A substantial period of prayerful preparation (typically 33 days).

  2. A final prayer — the Act of Consecration itself — to be said on the day of the consecration (preferably a Marian Feast Day).

  3. A persistent spirit of trust in Mary’s motherly care and intercession, to endure for the rest of your life.

As Catholics, we recognize that when, from the Cross, Jesus gave Mary to the disciple John, and John, in turn, to Mary, Jesus made her our spiritual mother. As such, Mary’s equipped in a special way, over and above all the other saints in heaven, to lead us to holiness. “Mary’s task is to give spiritual birth to Christians, to feed and nurture them with grace, and to help them grow to full stature in Christ.” Fr. Michael Gaitley writes, in his popular guide to Marian consecration, “33 Days to Morning Glory,” “In short, Mary’s job is to help us grow in holiness. It’s her mission to form us into saints”.    Starting on Saturday, February 21 through March 21st Legion of Mary will be offering a group Marian Consecration following the book 33 Days to Morning Glory by Fr. Micheal E. Gaitley.  Please sign up at LegionMariae@BSPWA.org.

Our Book Barrow library is offered every second Sunday of the month at the 9 and 12 noon masses.    A great resource of quality catholic content, just fill out the library card and return the item at our next Book Barrow Sunday or in the Parish office.

Thank you to all the families who have reached out to us for the Legion of Mary Pilgrim Rosary .  We are in need of a family to bring it home in March.  A perfect way to deepen your faith during your lenten journey and start a new habit of praying the rosary, especially for the special intentions of our pastor, Fr. Dominic David.  Please email us at LegionMariae@BSPWA.org.

Legion of Mary is an organization that is concerned for the spiritual needs of others.  Our souls are restless, unless we rest in God.   We are always looking for new members.   Join us in the Holy Family Conference Room after the Tuesday evening mass at 6:30pm and help to spread the gospel message of love and mercy.

The Legion of Mary is a lay organization dedicated to spreading the Gospel message through prayer, evangelization and works of mercy, under the special patronage of Our Blessed Mother.

The Legion has two main levels of membership, Active and Auxiliary. Active members attend the weekly meetings and devote some time each week to apostolic work. Auxiliary members pray the rosary each day, supporting the active members with their prayers.

If you are interested in joining us, we would love for you to come to one of our meetings. We meet each Tuesday at 6:45 PM in the Holy Family Conference Room, behind the sanctuary of the Church.
