Erica Wood
Hailed by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer as “extraordinary” with a “beautifully clear and agile voice,” Erica Wood is a captivating singing actress known for her intelligent interpretations and well-rounded musicianship.
A dedicated advocate of art song, Ms. Wood was featured as a recitalist with the Seattle Art Song Society in their Bern Herbolsheimer tribute concert and performed her nature-themed program Coo, Chirp, Flap, Flutter at the Good Shepherd Center. While living in New York, she was the Sprecher in Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, and premiered Tamara Kurdadze’s song cycle Confession at Weill Recital Hall.
On the operatic and concert stage, she has appeared as Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte with Vashon Opera and City Opera Bellevue. Concert highlights include Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and Handel’s Dixit Dominus with the Hartford Chorale and Hartford Symphony Orchestra, as well as appearing as the soprano soloist in Inverse Opera’s staged production of Messiah. Committed to bringing classical music to diverse audiences, she also spent several seasons as a producer and performer for the Seattle chapter of Opera on Tap. Her regional theatre credits include ensemble appearances in The Sound of Music at the 5th Avenue Theatre and Fiddler on the Roof with Village Theatre.
In addition to her vocal career, Ms. Wood is a composer and experienced liturgical musician. Her choral setting of theEaster sequence Victimae paschali laudes was recently performed at Blessed Sacrament Church.
A winner of the Tacoma Opera Guild competition, Ms. Wood holds a master’s degree in vocal performance from the Mannes College of Music in New York and a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.
