St. Vincent de Paul Conference
Our conference, founded in 1921, is one of the oldest and most active in the Seattle area. It currently has about ten members. Several work primarily in our food programs, but most carry on the traditional work of St. Vincent de Paul by identifying and visiting persons in need within our parish area. The conference meets several times a month. Members typically visit one or two households each week. Also, each Sunday one conference member attends the Sunday Dinner to provide aid-beyond-food to those in need. Generally, we provide emergency help ourselves and make referrals for longer-range needs.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is made up of local groups of men and women who actively seek to act upon the universal call of Jesus Christ to serve the poor. The society was founded by Frederick Ozanam in Paris France in 1833. Since then it has grown to include conferences in countries all over the world.
No work of charity is foreign to the Vincentian. The Vincentian's ministry, through person-to-person contact encompasses every form of aid that alleviates suffering and promotes the dignity and integrity of humankind. Within the means available to the conference, the Vincentian serves everyone, regardless of creed, opinion, color or origin. If you would like to talk to a member of the Blessed Sacrament St. Vincent de Paul Conference about our organization or if you need help please call (206) 930-6439.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul's Seattle / King County Council has a number of programs beyond what is offered at the parish level. To learn more, visit to their web site http://www.stvincentdepaul-seattle.org/index.html.
