Interior Work
Interior restoration involves the tremendous task of sand-blasting the painted bricks clean of paint to achieve an even, attractive finish. Sample methods were first tried on the South Trancept wall, as shown here. When an approved method was found, the interior was boarded with plywood sheets to protect the walnut woodwork, shored up with scaffolding and hermetically sealed in plastic, to allow church services to continue prior to the actual blasting. Interior restoration also includes rewiring and the installation of new lighting fixtures, as well as the essential seismic retrofit.
